Either breakfast was late, or lunch was early. I couldn’t find Frank, and catastrophe was certain without him.
“Frank,” I called, “Where are you, sweetheart?”
Frank did not answer.
I searched the kitchen. That is where I usually find him. “I need you, Frank,” I pleaded. “Where are you hiding?” It was just like Frank to hide. He was always such a tease and a spicy sort, at that. I love Frank, and he knows it.
Now, before you raise a judgmental eyebrow, know that my love affair with Frank is all John’s fault. He introduced me to Frank, and my desire for him was inevitable. The more Frank I have in my life, the better.
“Wait,” I hear you lament. “This is a post about salsa.”
“Of course, it is. But what is salsa without hot sauce?”
Frank is my favorite hot sauce, but you knew that, didn’t you? I didn’t have you fooled for one second.
I found Frank in the kitchen cupboard above my head, flirting with a saucy number from his past. I have warned him to stay away from hot chili peppers, but he never listens. Frank does as Frank wants. He likes to explore the more pungent flavors in the cabinet and thinks his dashing ways will win me over. He may be right on that count. Still, at this moment, I have the upper hand. I give him a good shaking, and he is now misbehaving among other salsa ingredients. Such a bad boy that Frank; gets all of the tomatoes, onions, and peppers nice and hot.
Salsa is easy to make and a great way to use garden tomatoes. Add one can of chunky tomatoes, 1/2 white chopped onion, 1/2 yellow pepper, 3 garlic cloves, and three to five additional tomatoes to your blender. Pulse on four until all ingredients reach a chunky consistency. Season with onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, add a dash of lime. Frank would approve.
