Love the moment, love the dance, for life is but a moment and the dance a lifetime.  John Larabee

Tomato Gazpacho

Every so often, I end up with a successful experiment. I had in mind a vegetable juice similar to the V8 I enjoyed in my youth and ended up with a delightful tomato gazpacho. John says it’s a keeper, and I wholeheartedly agree. Add the following ingredients to your blender and pulse until the mixture […]

When Food is Special

photographic image of The Ohio State Fair at dusk just inside the 11th avenue gate

Summer would not be the same without the Ohio State Fair. After all, where else can you eat your way from one end of the fair to the other on such delicacies as deep-fried chocolate-covered bacon? I can easily pass on the bacon, as well as funnel cakes, elephant ears, and fair fries, but in […]

Yet, if you ask my family what they “inherited” from me, they would all say “iced tea.”

Sweet Potato Dollops with Tomato Chutney

John’s creative recipe contrasts potato sweetness with a tangy chutney for a flavorful meal. Pair it with a side salad or serving of beans and this meal is perfect for breakfast or anytime you want a smaller meal. Sweet Potato Cakes Boil sweet potatoes until fork tender (roughly 40 minutes). Place potatoes in a bowl […]
