Love the moment, love the dance, for life is but a moment and the dance a lifetime.  John Larabee

Looking Forward to Williamsburg Virginia

Hiking

Hello, seems like a long time.

It has been a long time, a couple of years too long.  A serious amount of time, hiding from diseases.  Small things that cause enormous problems. It put the country, the world in extreme turmoil. Politics were just like the disease, they caused enormous problems that just would not be solved. I stayed pretty much at home with my wife. We kind of went out once and awhile, but all extra stuff like the gym or eating out just stopped. It took us all by surprise and is still with us.

We finally started hiking again since the weather was good. We had all our shots and the boosters. Besides hiking is an activity where you sometimes are totally by yourself, absent from the regular world. You start zoning out and become more aware of your senses, and the noises the natural life create in their cycles.

It saddens me to have lost some friends during this attack of a virus that had to do with their death. I worried about my own close family and if they were okay, were they able to get food and meet their needs? Did they have money to pay their bills? Seems now we are thinking less of the virus and more of a war, and our economy. Yes, we all worry, but if you study history, we have come close to blowing the world up more than once and somehow avoided it.

So, in order to find a way to get things somewhat back to order in my own thoughts, I will start blogging again about pleasant memories, or some interesting plants and animals. Sometimes, I may do some reflection on past things in life, some funny, some serious, some happy. Enjoy it…if you like it, but if you don’t then don’t read it. See what I mean?  If you do not read it, then you can’t possibly know if you like it. So, enjoy it anyway.

Now, if you look at the title, it has nothing to do with the previous paragraphs, but has something to do with something else. It has been a long time since we took a trip It is time to leave the politics and politicians fighting among themselves. Seems our forefathers fought this out on paper and left us in pretty good shape. We fought off tyranny and  the British with a revolution of the colonies. As a new country, they began ruling with a president not a King. We created a new nation by the people and for the people.

In a couple of weeks my wife and I will be traveling to Williamsburg, Virginia to walk back into history.  We will start with Jamestown, then on to Williamsburg, then to Yorktown.  Maybe, before we leave, Jefferson and Washington’s homes would be the final places we visit.

I will continue blogging for your entertainment, subscribe to the site for reading and enjoying the plants, hikes and travel we take in our life’s journey.

John
